    This is precisely the reason why I love window seats so much.

    Holding the airport limousine bus tickets with anticipation. Off to Shinjuku station.

    We got lost while trying to find the hotel by walking from Shinjuku station. Took a taxi, driver is as clueless as we are. But he managed to locate the hotel on the in-car GPS system using the hotel’s phone number. Cool. Taxi fare is 2980 yen…which amounts to approximately S$49 on our exchange rate. o.O Still, we reached the hotel without having to lug our luggage around figuring the correct direction.

    We stayed in CityHotel Lonestar for all our nights in Tokyo. Great location - it’s actually a short walk from Shinjuku station. Nearest station is Shinjuku-sanchome, which has three different train lines that can get us to most places.

    The room is small, but nothing much to complain about for the location and the price we’re paying.

    We went to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa for the last day of the Battledome Fair.

    That ends our first (cold) day in Japan. You could say it’s a climate shock for the two tropical souls.

    Bought a canned kitty food for her. I’m in love with this cat.

    • ]]>     I think most kids have an unexplained infatuation with the “Bus Stopping” bells (referred to The Bell from now on). Which one(s) of the below are you guilty of when you’re a kid?

    • Fight with siblings to press The Bell before your stop arrives.
    • Press The Bell waaaaaaaay in advance because you can’t hold the urge much longer (I know adults who still do that).
    • Sulk/Felt extremely unhappy when somebody else press The Bell you’ve been wanting to press while you are still procrastinating (see above point).
    • Press The Bell again when somebody has already done so (see above point) and then pretend nothing has happened.
    • Press The Bell for every stop hoping that someone will get down.

    I’m like that when I’m a kid. And I saw a kid today who behaves just like that. 20 years doesn’t do much to the behaviour of a kid to The Bell, yeah? This must be some innate passion that all kids share. :3

    The Bell is almost like a reward, like a candy given to a child (”You can only have one”). Although I doubt kids treat candies as rewards anymore. There’s something forbidden about pressing The Bell, so when it’s finally pressed there is a sweetness in conquering it.
