Wisdom teeth extraction
July 28th, 2009 by Pei Shan | Filed under Health. My wisdom, in plain view.

0820hrs Met Mr. Piggy whom very sweetly wanted to send me to NDC.
0900hrs Reached NDC level 3 and registered.
0900~1000hrs Got called in, Mr. Piggy follows. Nurse took my weight, temperature, blood pressure. Shown my bed and given a hospital gown to change into. Spoke to doctor who briefed me on the procedures and the risks again. Anaesthetist came and asked me some procedural questions. I’m scared! Mr. Piggy chatted with me to keep my mind off bad thoughts. :)
1030hrs Nurse asked me to put on a shower cap like thing. Given a thick blanket and directed to the operation room. My procedure is done under GA to remove four wisdom teeth. I concussed without me being aware of it.
??? I think I dreamt a little, and started to be conscious of surroundings although can’t open eyes. I realised op is over??? Nurses spoke to me a little and pushed me back to the bed area. They called my mui (I gave them her number earlier) and told she she can come collect me around 2+pm. Nurses and doctor came in and checked on me, while I was still a lil groggy. Besides feeling a bit swollen, sore throat a lot of phlegm, AND NOT FEELING MY CHIN AND LOWER LIPS, I think I’m okay (so far).
1500hrs Reached home. Swallowed some yoghurt I’ve stocked and eat med. Then sleep!

Me, after the op, resting and waiting for little sis to fetch me. Can’t feel a thang on my lower lips and chin. I touched them and they felt like…rubber.

GA was an interesting experience for me. I know about the slightly higher risks of GA compared to LA but I really don’t want to know what is happening to me or around me. (Covering the eyes doesn’t help, imo.)
Anyway, so many things were happening around me. A nurse told me she will insert a small needle on my left hand for GA. Ya know my stand of needles… Pain is bearable but I hated it.. :( On the same time another nurse is taking my blood pressure. And also on the same time the anaesthetist put a oxygen mask on me and told me he’s giving me some oxygen to breathe. Told me to open my eyes, look at the lights on top. I blinked a few times, thinking to myself Why have I not concussed?
But there, that was the last thought I remember. It only felt like seconds when I opened my eyes again. O.o

Gotta go bathe and sleep some more. Thank you to those who are concerned. Appreciate it. :)
